The New Real (Original Soundtrack) is the original music composed by Monika Dalach Sayers for David Edgar's epic political play The New Real, directed by Holly Race Roughan for the Royal Shakespeare Company in association with Headlong. Premiering in October 2024 at The Other Place in Stratford-upon-Avon, the production explored a world reshaped by epoch-defining elections on both sides of the Atlantic. Blending contemporary classical writing with electronic textures and atmospheric sound design, the soundtrack reflects the play's shifting political landscapes, human tensions, and emotional undercurrents. Designed to accompany the drama on stage, these compositions also stand alone as an immersive journey through uncertainty, change, and the complexities of our contemporary world.
